2015 - New Orleans
The 2015 Reunion was held 28-31 May 2015.
2015 is the bicentennial of the Battle of New Orleans (8 Jan 1815). Since we are "New Orleans' Own" and the Cottonbalers! we were back to the city of our "roots" per se for the bicentennial. It was a great reunion with a wonderful turnout. We had 87 members and guests there.
We toured the National WW2 Museum and then spent the afternoon in the French Quarter on Friday. On Saturday we toured the Chalmette Battlefield where the 7th Infantry Regiment earned their nickname "Cottonbalers" and laid a wreath at the 7th Regiment Monument there. Then we had a great Regimental Dinner with COL(R) Lou Hightower, the first Honorary Colonel of the Regiment, as the guest speaker. Dancing ended the evening.
Our next reunion will be in 2017 in Savannah, GA. We will celbrate the 30th Anniversary of the Association. Hope to see you there.
