11 Jan 2008	December 31, 2007 Jurf Town Hall Groundbreaking Ceremony In the early afternoon hours of December 31st 2007, key coalition as well as Iraqi leaders met to begin construction on a town hall facility for the Jurf as Sakhr community. LTC Timothy Newsome, commander of 3-7 IN Battalion, and CPT Eric Tisland, commander of Able Company, 3-7 IN BN met with Sheik Sabah, the mayor of Jurf as Sakhr in order to mark the occasion and review key projects in the area. In its first 60 days in sector, Able Company has forged strong relationships with Sheik Sabah and his fellow leaders such as Youssef Swife, a skilled contractor and Sheik of the neighboring town of Sadat just south of Jurf as Sakhr. CPT Tisland has held frequent meetings with these local leaders in order to develop the governmental and economic capacity of the region now that security is established. The groundbreaking of the town hall is an important step as it signifies the cooperation that is taking place between Coalition Forces and the local populace under Sheik Sabah. It also shows the amount of commitment that 3-7 IN BN has to the people of Jurf as Sakhr and how it will continue to work for the people in order to build a stronger and more peaceful community in Jurf as Sakhr. The soldiers of Able Company will work with the Iraqi Army, Iraqi Police, and Concerned Citizens to ensure the security of the new site and to keep the families of Jurf as Sakhr safe and secure. 17 Dec 2007	The Association's own CSM(R) Curly Faulk was been collecting money earlier this year in order for all of the children of Task Force 2-7 to have a Christmas Party at Fort Stewart. Earlier this month, the party occured and everyone had a wonderful time. Here are the Thank You photos for Curly from the children. We also want to send our Thanks to Curly for all that he's done.

17 Dec 2007	Task Force 2-7 has ordered new Deployment Coins for each soldier who deployed with the Task Force. Here is an image of the coin: If any one is interested in ordering one of these coins, please send me an e-mail and I'll coordinate with the Task Force Rear Detachment.

4 Jun 2007	Michael Yon, a Freelance Journalist has been embedded with TF 2-7 and his latest on-line entry details the arrest made by LTC Crissman, TF Commander, of the police Chief for corruption. This is a great piece on the Task Force and what they do every day and how fluid and rapidly changing the situation. The remarkable fact that this was all done with no shots fired and no one injured also speaks volumes on the courage and training of today's Soldiers.

30 May 2007	TF 2-7 has sent out their May - June 2007 newsletter.

12 Apr 2007	Defense Secretary Robert Gates announces that Active Army units in Iraq, Afghanistan and the rest of the Central Command area of responsibility will serve 15-month combat tours. All active army troops in the war zone and those headed there, will serve 15-month tours, effective immediately.

11 Apr 2007	TF 2-7 has sent out their second newsletter.

11 Mar 2007	The Associated Press (AP) ran a story that mentions TF 2-7 and the work they have been doing in Hit, Iraq.

7 Mar 2007	The remainder of the Third Infantry Division is heading back to Iraq earlier than anticipated .....the Div Hqs must be there NLT 25 March 07 with 4th Bde in July. 3-7 Infantry Regiment is part of the 4th Brigade.

1 Mar 2007	TF 2-7 has sent out their first newsletter.
