The 2005 observance of the anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans in 1815 was made particularly special by the dedication of a memorial to the 7th Infantry Regiment and other units that participated in the battle 190 years ago. The Association has been working diligently with the National Park Service and others for more than ten years to make this happen, and its efforts were finally rewarded this year. Below are photographs taken from the event including, the bronze plaque honoring the 7th Infantry. A delegation from the Association as well as a color guard and other representatives of the Regiment at Fort Stewart, Georgia took part in the ceremony. Several years ago the City Council of the City of New Orleans proclaimed the 7th Infantry to be "New Orleans' Own."
